TASKS Framework

A structured approach to writing high-performing agent prompts.

What is TASKS?

TASKS is our proven framework for writing agent prompts that consistently perform well. It stands for: Tone, Actions, Specifics, Knowledge, and Safety.

T - Tone

Define how the agent should sound:

  • Personality traits (friendly, professional, empathetic)
  • Communication style (conversational, formal, casual)
  • Energy level (enthusiastic, calm, neutral)
  • Response length (brief, detailed, adaptive)

A - Actions

Specify what the agent should DO:

  • Primary goal (book appointments, qualify leads, etc.)
  • Secondary goals (collect contact info, answer FAQs)
  • Tool usage (when to book, when to look up contacts)
  • Handoff criteria (when to transfer to human)

S - Specifics

Include business-specific details:

  • Business name, location, hours
  • Services offered and pricing
  • Common questions and answers
  • Booking rules and availability

K - Knowledge

What should the agent know?

  • Product/service information
  • FAQs and common objections
  • Team member names and roles
  • Policies and procedures

S - Safety

Set boundaries and guardrails:

  • Topics to avoid
  • Information not to share
  • When to escalate to humans
  • How to handle difficult callers
