Tool Overview

Understanding the pre-built GHL tools available to your agents.

What Are Tools?

Tools are pre-built functions that your AI agents can use during conversations. They connect to GoHighLevel to perform actions like booking appointments, looking up contacts, adding tags, and more.

How Tools Work

When you enable a tool for an agent:

  • The agent can decide when to use the tool based on conversation context
  • Tool calls happen automatically without user intervention
  • Results are incorporated into the agent's response
  • All actions are logged for review

Available Tool Categories

Tools are organized into categories:

  • Appointment Tools - Book, reschedule, cancel, check availability
  • Contact Tools - Search, create, update contacts
  • Organization Tools - Tags, notes, tasks, opportunities
  • Communication Tools - SMS triggers, workflow triggers
  • Utility Tools - Business hours check, web search

Enabling Tools

Configure which tools each agent can access:

  1. 1Open the agent in Agent Studio
  2. 2Go to the Tools tab
  3. 3Toggle on/off individual tools
  4. 4Configure tool-specific settings (calendar selection, etc.)
  5. 5Save changes

Best Practice

Only enable the tools your agent actually needs. This reduces confusion and improves reliability.
